Public Consultation Explained

One of the requirements of the SWMP is public consultation. The best plan that we can have is the one that we work on together as a community. Please review the new SWMP and let us know what you think. Your comments and suggestions will be incorporated into our final submission to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VDEQ).

What is a Solid Waste Management Plan?

The Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP) is a document that helps the City develop ways to manage the trash and recycling program.

We plan for the future by looking at what we have done so far. We also think about how our community will grow and the new technologies that may be available to help us improve recycling and reduce the amount of trash going to landfill.

Our new SWMP will  help us set goals and objectives for meeting the needs of our citizens for the next
20 years.
