The Office of the Fire Marshal is the primary agency for fire prevention in the City of Manassas. View the Introduction to the Office of the Fire Marshal.

The Fire Prevention Code in use at this time, throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, is the IFC 2012 Edition with Virginia amendments. Visit the International Code Council for more information, or to purchase code books.

Hazardous operations and the storage of hazardous materials require an annual Fire Prevention Code Permit which can be obtained from the Fire Marshal.

Smoke Detector Give-Away Program
The City of Manassas Fire and Rescue Department will provide you with a free smoke detector, and install it in your home, at no charge. Request a smoke detector by calling us or sending us an email.
