The mission of the Department of Community Development is to maintain a high quality of life for Manassas residents and businesses through sound land use planning, code enforcement, neighborhood services, and education. The Office shall also strive to strengthen the local tax base through existing business retention and expansion and new business attraction.

On October 7, 2009 the Planning Commission formally initiated a Zoning Text Amendment
(ZTA #2009-07) to revise the sign regulations in the City's Zoning Ordinance.  The Planning Commission's Zoning Ordinance Review Committee will be meeting on Tuesday, October, 27th to review the draft ordinance.
