Role of the Operations Division
The Fire and Rescue System is composed of three organizations working together for the good of the City of Manassas and the surrounding area. The City of Manassas Fire and Rescue Department is the direct arm of city government in this endeavor. The Manassas Volunteer Fire Company has been providing fire suppression services since 1892. The Greater Manassas Volunteer Rescue Squad was founded in 1966 providing pre-hospital care.

The City of Manassas has a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) that assists during major events in the City and are ready in case of a disastrous incident. Together, our members provide emergency services to the residents and visitors of the City of Manassas, Manassas Park, and Prince William County, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
